Leaving medicine can be hard for a few reasons.

You have years, maybe decades, invested in medicine.
Your skills may not seem transferable.
You have no idea what the options are for you – or what you’re best suited for.

REDISCOVER YOURSELF

You’ve changed since you chose medicine. You need to rediscover who you are today. Before we get into the WHAT and the HOW, I help you figure out WHO you are – your gifts, interests, values, needs, and preferences – including WHY each of these is important to you.

EXPERIMENT YOUR WAY TO CLARITY

Before you make any big decisions, let’s start small. I’ll show you how to transfer your clinical skills and experience to the non-clinical world and develop a “short list” of options that seem like the best fit. Then, you’ll do “mini-career experiments” to test your interest and arrive at clarity.

PURSUE YOUR VISION WITH PRECISION

Once you’ve made a decision about which path you want to pursue, I’ll teach you how to transition to your best-fit role. We’ll cover the practical nature of landing your next job, branding yourself for the new life you want, and translating your experience on paper and in the interview process.

Our work together will include several phases

Step 1. Assessments

I use a validated personality assessment, as well as my own proprietary inquiry process to get to know you, your skills, and your natural gifts and talents.

Step 2. Preferences + Options

Next, we’ll gather your career and lifestyle preferences to become clear on your non-negotiables and review a list of 50+ non-clinical career options.

Step 3. Visioning

You’ll put together everything you learned in steps 1 and 2 to create an ideal career vision for yourself - one that will fit this stage of your life.

Step 4. Mini-Career Experiments

At this point, we usually still have several potential pathways that could fit your vision. So we create mini-career experiments for you to test your interest and fit of each, one at a time.

Step 5. Decision & Pursuit

Finally, once you’ve made a decision about your chosen career path, I support you in updating your resumé, LinkedIn profile, applications, networking, and interviewing.

FAQs

How long will it take me to find my next job/ career?

This varies from physician to physician. From my experience with clients and talking to other physician career transition coaches, it can take anywhere from weeks to 2 years.

Am I guaranteed to land a dream job if we work together?

I will teach you how to land your dream job!. While there are no guarantees, I believe there’s a job with your name on it!

What if all I know is clinical medicine?

Once you decide you’re ready to leave clinical medicine, I will show you how your gifts, skills, and experience can be transferred to non-clinical career roles.

How much does it cost to work with you?

There are different ways to work with me. After the Career Clarity Call and we’re both clear we want to work together, I will recommend a suitable program for you. The cost ranges from $1,750.00 to $7,000.00.

Do I have to be a physician to work with you?

Yes, you must have an MD, DO, MBBS, MBBCh or equivalent degree.

Do I have to be sure I want to leave clinical medicine?

Not at all! If you want a change but you’re not sure what it is, I would love to help you get clear. On the other hand, if you’re sure you want to leave but don’t know the options, I will guide you through that too.

How often do we meet? How much time do I need to dedicate to coaching?

We meet twice a month (on Zoom or telephone). I recommend setting aside 5-10 hours per week to work on your career transition.
